1030 top link mounts

Why did Case put two mounts for the 3 point top link on their tractors? I've not seen any other tractors with two mounts. Is one for holding the link when not in use and the other for use with 3 point equipment or is there some other reason?

Thanks,

My 830 had 2 as well if i remember correctly one was for tillage and one was for all other use. The ops manual should tell you. Perhaps one of the guys that use to sell them new will chime in.....

The upper one was used for certain implements and holding the top link the bottom one is used for 99.9% of things, they also were a platform support on the 730/830 and a fuel tank support on the 930/1030, 69 930/1030 have a steel one with out the ears for a top link,,

What implements used the top one?

I have always wondered the same. 930s have the upper too. I do know things can go very wrong if the upper one is
accidentally used with a rotary mower. I think the mower blade tried to kill my drawbar... or something like that. Been
awhile.

If the high hole is used the lift geometry is way off whereas if the lower link is used the lower arms and 3rd point link are parallel and lift the implement more straight up, I can't think of an application where the upper hole would be needed. It would be nice if someone who has a operators manual would research that and post back. That is the reason the older tractors had a cast bracket that covered the PTO, to get the geometry right.

mEl, been trying to remember what I seen them used on,, then it dawned on me at least one that I happen to own three of, the 200 Series roll-over plow was one,, I also want to say the cotton stripper may have pinned to the top one,, thanks for jogging my memory of course you are right on the geometry,, but I knew there was a few things that used the top hole as they would never have made them as heavy duty as they are made just to hold the top link storage spring,, some times my mind wont let go of old memory files easy but today it did, I do have the ops manuals for these plows also but just grabbed a pic form lit to show/prove my point/thinking, there is also another bracket used for these plows on Eagle Hitch tractors, I have a couple of those brackets also but do not have a pic handy I can find, that one pins in the Bottom pto cover mounting hole and to the top hole mount, I doubt many even know what I am talking about though as I have had some Very good CASE guys stop by and I ask them what it was for and they had no clue if I think about it later today or this evening I will dig out a ops and post pics as it shows them in the plows ops manual, for those who like to doubt me and what I say at times here and of course I can be wrong to, here you go stick that in your pipe and smoke it LOL just ribbing everyone I know its hard to believe a old fart like me when you dislike me ( surprise there are some here who really do) , its all good,,

CNT, Interesting , and in that photo the geometry doesn't look that bad. We have a Lely disc mower and using the upper hole really makes the mower kick back. Thank you for posting that!
