1030 Tranny Issues

Looking to buy a 1030 and have a few questions.

The guy says the first set on the planetaries is out. He said it would drive but that it was noisy. Is it easiest to just swap out the differential? Any experience there?

What is the serial number when transmission cooler added?

Anything else to look for in a 1030?

Planetaries are the gears in a power shift transmission that allow for shifting on the move, or final reduction gears to releave torque stress on ring gear and pinion. 1030 has no planetaries. Are you working on a 1070? Are you talking about spider gears?

Yeah, Im probably confusing myself. First gear is out but it drives noisy.

Chris, if you know you have a gear out, quite driving it until you have drained the tansmission case and cleaned out the metal bits. By continuing to drive it, if you are, you are risking tearing up all other gears with metal bits from the one gear you know to be bad. You may go from a cluster and one gear replacement to a complete transmission replacement.
