1066 hydraulic oil

Hey ya, just bought a 1066 last week and would like to change hydraulic oil and filter. There's not a caseIH dealer within 100 miles from me. I was wondering if JD hyguard, or any napa or farm store hydraulic oil is comparable to what is sold at the Case IH dealer for this tractor? Also the hydraulic breaks steering, and lift are alittle slow to pick up after starting some times. I read a thread a while back here about the need sometimes to put extra hydraulic oil in the tractor, and it takes care of this problem. If so how much extra is recommended? Thank you all in advance LH

Hy-Tran is what, is called for in the book, No opinon on John Deere oil. I know Hy-Tran is the best, but i do have Farm-Oyl brand in one tractor.I always ran mine 3 gallons over full! Some say your safe at 5 gallons overfull.

Like EJR said if it meets the sec it should be fine. I know we have run off brand oil in ours for 40 years. We get ours from our fuel guy.

I dont have a IH dealer within 500 miles. I have used JD hygard, and then switched to NAPA Trans/hydralic(cheaper). Have on ocation used Phillips HG and Mobil 303.As was said is it meets specs(read the label) it is fine. After almost 40 years, never had a problem. You can buy all your filters from NAPA.Buy your oil there, too.'Standard' overfill is 5 gallons.Add to 'Full mark',then add 5 more gallons and remark the dipstick. All three of my 06/56 series are '5 over',things just seem to work better
