Had my mechanic put the clutch kit in my pto and now it wont build pressure, even with the shims. All the other hydrolics work fine, so could it be the main pump? Or just a messed up valve? Its not even tilling season and i"m having problems, at least it didn"t happen in the middle of hay season right?

Well if it not build pressure then i supect that the tiny little pin in the PTO control valve has sheared . If he did the job correctly , and NO the valve does not come out the TOP it all comes out the bottom . Now with out installing the special test fitting into the tedst port and installing a Hyd. test gauge that can read up to 600 lbs. we do not know as it just might be something as simple as he did not screw the nut ontop of the valve on far enough ,BUT with out the gauge in place you have know idea as to what your doing and IF he placed shims in there over what came from the factory this did nothing but uped the starting pressure to the clutches. and here again it sounds to me like he does not know what he is doing with a I H hyd. PTO unit anddid not READ a book on said unit. So i would get a I T manual and set down and read the chapter on the workings of a I H hyd. operated PTO unit .The pressure when you first start to move the PTO lever up to ingauge the unit shold have a pressure reading of around 41-46 Lbs of pressure and when the lever is all the way ingauged it should be between 235 to 245 , Now myself i set a 1066 on up to 265-285 depending on how much she has bee tweaked and what PTo work it will be doing .And also so on a 1066 i use the HD clutch pack with the 7and 9 set up .

and oh the PTO unit has it's own pump in the unit and that is something else the pick up tube is easly damaged if the unit was remove improperly or installed wrong and the pick up tube was dinged or if the seal is damaged .

HEY TRACTOR VET, HE ABSOULTY KNOWS WHAT HE IS DOING AND I DON'T APPERICIATE YOU "ASSUMING" YOU KNOW ALL ABOUT INTERNATIONALS AND TELLING ME HE DOSN'T KNOW WHAT HE IS DOING. HE HAS DONE IT BEFORE AND HAS THE PROPPER FITTINGS AND GUAGES. He said he would figure it out on monday. Thanks

Not to be a jerk, but i only asked to understand better myself. So if you want to say anyone dosn't know what he is doing, it would be me. Thats why i took it to a shop. I have the IT shop manual and read the chapter.

Well, maybe your mechanic very well knows what he is doing, but the way you explained the problem would indicate otherwise, as the Vet said, the shims are for partial engagement pressure and have nothing to do with actual fully engaged pressures, and you indicate a question about the main pump and like he said, pto has it"s own pump. No need to get all excited, just get the story correct.

Well I do know all about Internationals and Farmalls for a matter of fact and it would not take me vary long to figure his out if i was the one working on it. So Randy if you or he knew what was wrong the why are you asking questions on here looking for help. Yes i am and OLD GROUCH and i tell it like it is . I have had many years working on I H tractors and most folk on here know i give good advice as i am not the one with the problem you are and you do not know and from the way you came on neither does your mechanic.

Wekll no then there if he is so good it should be working and you wouldnt be asking for advise and then not liking what you read.
