1070 ac temp control

I'm installing a new a/c temp. control on our 1070 & have everything ready for the install, cab roof off & heater core & evaporator freed up on the end the temp. control wire goes on the evaporator so I can lift the heater core out of the way & lift the evaporator just high enough to put the wire through because I can't see any other way to do this. I know these wires are sensitive & can't be kinked or damaged in any way or they won't work. What is the best way to do this. Old temp control wasn't responding at all & was the original. Thanks for any help with this.

It sounds like you have it under control. Have you tested it with a toggle switch to know the control switch is the problem?

Haven't tested it but I have the new one so might as well put it in. If it doesn't work will have to do some testing. Just worried about bending the wire over the tube on the evaporator without kinking it. Maybe I could use my break line tube bender to get it started. It does need to fit tight over tube to stay in contact w/the tube. I'll let you know what happens.

It"s NOT a "wire". It"s a capillary tube.

It"s NOT gonna squash REAL easily nor will it BREAK at a bend unless bent repeatedly at the same spot.

Are you replacing the ELECTRIC cold control for the compressor clutch, or the TXV (expansion valve)?

The TXV cap tube gets clipped to the evaporator outlet pipe and insulated with refrigeration tape, the end couple of inches of the cold control cap tube typically get inserted into the evaporator fins, between refrigerant tubes.

If you are working with the cold control and the end was NOT inserted into the evaporator fins, that would explain why it didn"t work.

I know it's a capillary tube & not a wire. I just called it that. I replaced the expansion valve last year & used ac tape where it was needed & everything worked fine. Temp. was always very cold this spring w/no repsonse from the temp. control & I don't enjoy freezing like some people, just being comfortable so that's why I'm replacing the ac temp. control w/the CAPILLARY TUBE & not a wire. If that's not it I'll look at something else. I also cleaned out the entire area under the cab roof including the evaporator & heater core plus a new dryer & evacuated the system before before added r134 & some dye. All this was done last year. I used a 30 lb. cylinder to fill the system w/ a scale. The whole thing was a mess before I fixed it last year & not being an ac expert I did better than a lot of so called experts, some who don't take the time to do things right. I do have a service manual which was used in a real case dealership. Plus I did a lot of research & asked questions. I don't like people responding w/words in caps to get their message across either. I'm not stupid & either is anyone else on this site.

Dennis the tube/wire is pretty forgiving, just stick it in the evaporator and bend it over.
