I just changed the steering/brake/remotes filter and the transmission filter on the new-to-me 1070.
I dropped out the steering/brake filter and it was white. I was a little confused because the instructions that came with the new filters said that filter, A61234, was the red one. The white filter that came out had the right number on it, but wasn't red.
I'm curious about when Case, or Case/IH, went to the red/white filter system? When I changed the air filter, the date stamped on it was Jan. 02. (It looked like it - it was a mess.) I'm thinking those hydraulic filters haven't been changed in quite a while and may help explain why the remotes are so slow - maybe. I'm going to change the hydraulic fluid now that I've seen the gray, gunky stuff that sat on the bases of the cannisters that I spun off.
When did they change the steering/brake filter to red?
Thanks,
George
