I am considering a Ford 1110 tractor that is for sale locally. I looked it up on tractordata.com and learned that its made in Japan and about the size of a Cub Lo-boy. Comes with a box scraper. Anyone know anything about them?

Built by a company in Japan for Ford Tractor Company before they were sold out. Good little tractors as long as they were maintained correctly. Keep the glow plugs working and never use starting fluid on them. Engine parts are very expensive and used parts are getting very hard to find for them. If you have no experience with one then, purchase an owners manual and read it cover to cover prior to operating the tractor.

Parts for the Shibauras have been a challenge for a long time. A friend got a deal on one twenty years ago and searched for the needed steering part for five years before finally selling it for scrap.

Well, for good or ill I bought it yesterday. Started right up to load on trailer and started easy to unload. It sat overnight outside and got down to about 40 F. Didnt want to start this morning. Ran the battery down and had to jump start it. I definitely need a manual for it. Any known sources for one? Thanks.

YT has the third party I&T manual and
reprint of the factory manual. Ebay is a
good place to look if you want new or used
factory manual(s).

Frank, Those little engines rely on glow plugs to start. The colder the weather the more they have to work
correctly. There is a light on the dash that tells you when the glow plugs have heated up and the engine is ready
to start. The glow plugs and the indicator light are imperative to start the engine so, you need to insure they
are in working order. A good battery is also important to insure good cranking speed. You should never use
starting fluid or ether in that little engine as it will damage pistons and rings and other parts. I would pull
start it before using starting fluid. A test light and a little time spent on that glow plug circuit is your
friend here. Good luck.

Agree with OFM. These Shibaura diesels will not start cold without the glowplugs. Even when its fairly warm outside they still need the glow plugs.
Turn the key left (spring tension) for ten seconds and then to the right to start and she will fire off.
I have two of them, a 1620 and 1510. The 1620 does not have a dash glow plug indicator so I just count off ten seconds. And the 1510 does have the indicator (small coil)that will glow red like a toaster. 1510 also shuts off the injector pump with the throttle lever so yours may need more throttle position.

Next time I tried to start it I turned the key to the left until the
little coil glowed red. Held it their for maybe 10 seconds, then
it started easily. Thanks for the advice.

According to tractordata Ford offered lots of accessories/
attachments for this line of tractors including a front loader. I
would like to find a front loader for it. Wonder what the
chances are of finding a good one?

I posted a Wanted Ad on YT and the only response so far was someone asking if I was interested in selling the tractor. Thanks, but not yet.

I have an 1100 Ford. Its very tiny, but punches above its weight. Itll run the 4 foot wide PTO implements. The loader is a tad weak, but that saves me from dumb mistakes. The gearing is good. Itll grunt surprisingly well pulling dirt. Mine has a little box scraper with an adjuster for pulling, pushing, and ripping.

My good friend rebuild the tractor last year. He had no problem finding or fabricating parts. I only live on an acre now, but with plans to upgrade to more acreage. Ill be keeping this little gem.

The size is sooo handy.

I have a ford 1100 that I really like for

working in the yard , I also have a box blade and a single plow and a 4 ft. tiller , garden is about 1/2 acer , so it dose good , but some parts you have to really look for , good luck with it.

Mine came with a 4 box scraper and a draw bar. So far I have only used it for spreading some gravel on the driveway. Using the scraper has a learning curve... I am getting better tho. 😉
I would really like to find a front end loader.
