1130 hydraulics

I have an 1130 Massey Ferguson and I'm having trouble with the hydraulics, mech has told me they think the front pump is out can anyone tell me a quick way to check for myself to see how deep into this i'm gonna end up, and maybe where i can get a pump for a good price or a kit to rebuild if possible. thanks

I had the same problem with my 1100. You need a mechanic that can do a flow test with a flow meter. I would check the charge pump in the transmission first. I put a new charge pump in mine and it works great. A new charge pump from Massey is going to be around 2,000.00 dollars. It is not cheap but if the rest of the tractor is goood it might be worth it. If you are handy with tools installing a charge pump is relativly easy. I would recommend a service manual. Good Luck and update your progress.

will do and thanks, we did a pressure test today and got 2000lbs at about 1800 rpm, going to do some more checking tomorrow and if we can will test the radial piston pump next, if it is ok i'm guessing that it has to be a relief valve somewhere. If that doesnt work i'm still contimplating converting the main hydraulics to an open center system and leaving the power steering and the clutch and brakes with the original if possible.

There is a relief valve in the main pump on the front of the tractor. It is located on the bottom side under a large plug. Remove the plug and use a special socket that looks like a large regular screwdriver. I tested mine using a hand pump from a porta-power and a pressure gauge.

I was able to check the release pressure with that setup. My relief valve tested good. I don't remember what the release pressure is but I had a service manual that had the specs.
