12 inch oregon chain

I put a new oregon chain on my 12 inch 20v dewalt chainsaw.
I like to touch up the chain with a diamond burr on the dremel tool before using it each time.
This morning I noticed only one side of the chain was sharpened at the factory. The other side of the chain, all teeth were blunt.
I bet it will work better now after I sharpened the other half of the chain.

Never seen a whole side missed, a couple teeth yeah. I have used a bunch of different brand chains. Dolmar, Oregon, Stihl, 8ten. Best I have found is Laser. Stihl are good, Laser lasts longer. 3/8 .050 x 72 chain on a Dolmar.

Can you see why I just pointed, clicked and amazon delivered a new $10 chain in two days and I didn't spend time going to town to have a chain made? How do you know what kind of chain your Stihl dealer used??

Probably because it said "Stihl" on every side link on the chain. Stihl is the best chain out there at this time. Used to be Oregon was good, but it's a crap shoot now. Get the Stihl "RS", great stuff.

(quoted from post at 10:47:54 01/17/22) They have all kinds. Yours is probably a 3/8 picco chain. From there is .325, regular 3/8, then for the BIG saws .404. and the chisel, semichisel versions of each size. Like I said take your old chain and they'll make the correct one.

I could not find a good chain for my RK blue max saw.
Stihl does not sell a ready made chain.
So I have the Stihl dealer make them up.

The pre made off the shelf chains would stretch beyond use before they needed sharpening.

There aren't that many manufacturers of saw chain any more. Not arguing with your success but Laser doesnt make anything. They buy chain from Oregon or Carlton(which is now owned by the same company) and re badge it. Dollmar is Oregon. Stens is Chinese along with about every other farm store or big box store brand.
Stihl, Oregon, Carlton and Husqvarna all have. chain factories that make quality chain. Like anything else the Chinese make crap lookalikes to sell cheaply.

" Like anything else the Chinese make crap lookalikes to sell cheaply. "

WRONG
The Chinese make stuff to the quality desired by the buyer.
If they could only make poor quality stuff they would eventually run out of repeat buyers.

you better go back and read what I said
which is the Chinese make crap to sell
cheaply at the box stores. I didn't say
all they make is crap, you did.

Are these box stores here in North American or China?

If in North America, I think the box store company has a purchasing department at headquarters.
Their job is to buy products from world wide sources.
At a price they like for the quality they want to sell in their box store.

The cheap, crap from China is in the box store (any store) because that is the crap the retailer wants to sell.

Stihl most certainly does sell pre-made chain. They may not make the size you need or your dealer may not stock it, but they make it as I just bought one. You are going to do better having your dealer make one at any rate.

I'll buy oregon chains from Amazon
This was a fluke.
Had I discovered sooner the chain was only shared on one side,
Amazon would have sent me another one and full refund.
It worked just perfectly today after I sharpened the other side.
no biggie.
