12 V conversion on Jubilee

What is the resistor for that is installed between the coil and the terminal block? and if I have a 12 volt coil would I still need the resistor? Thanks

The resister is used if you retain the 6 volt coil. So no you don't use it if you go with a 12 volt coil. Good luck, with your conversion. I'm very happy with mine.

What does it say on the coil?

12 volt external resistor required
12 volt no external resistor required Go by what it says

If in doubt check resistance across two small posts. 1 1/2 ohms requires a resistor of near equal value. 3 ohm does not need resistor.

if you have to buy a 12 v coil anyway get the one "no external resistor required". cuts down on wiring connections
