12 Volt conversion Indicator light

Any of you that have converted 6 to 12 volt with the alternator and used a light instead of the diode have a part number for the light you used? I have scrubbed the local parts store and have not found a light that meets the 5 watt criteria.

Thanks, that is what I am loooking for. It is amazing none of the auto parts have anything like it. It is all LED.

remember that an led light is.... a diode. You win and get both. Much less likely to burn out.

or use a ge53 or 1894 bulb (push and turn) style. or a 194 wedge type bulb at 4.9 watts which may run a bit hotter in plastic fixtures.

actory GM installations had a 10 Ohm 6.25Watt resistor in parallel with the lamp......do that and bulb specifics become insignificant, more or less.

(quoted from post at 11:07:03 07/08/20) How do I wire the resistor in parallel in the circuit?
irectly across the bulb as in drawing for 10SI ALTERNATOR.
