I bought a 12 volt conversion kit and a 12 volt ignition coil with internal resistor. Do i need to put the external resistor in that came with the kit. I also need a terminal block. Can i get one at the auto store. The tractor is a 1960 Ford Workmaster 641.

ike those diapers......it depends! It isn't a coil with a resistor inside the can. It is a primary winding of enough length & small enough diameter wire to yield adequate resistance such as not require an external resistor. Now to the 'depends' part.........coils vary a lot, so as to whether or not you need a resistor addition, it depends on the value of that primary resistance. If 1, 1.5, 2 Ohms, then it will need some sort of resistor, whereas if in the 3 to 4 Ohm range, then you do not need or want to use a resistor.

As JMOR said the coil is just wired different then a 6 volt coil it has no resister in it. If the coil reads NO External resister needed then you do not use the resister but if it says resister needed on it then you use it simple as that

I would get on the 9n 2n 8n tractor forum on this web site and ask the question to Dell. He is hands down the authority on this kind of stuff.
