12 volt conversion

when someone does a 12 volt conversion on say a farmall super c can the original light switch be used? i wasnt sure if it would burn anything up. im trying to save some money and not buy a kit. also does anyone have a part no. for 12 volt light bulbs?

The switch can be used if the bulbs are of equal wats to the original, or less. Led replacement lamps with interchangability (same socket) will draw far less and actually make enough light to use. Very recommended. If your SC has sealed beam lamps, the 12v lamps are available, but expensive. I would put in either an aftermarket led assembly, or a aftermarket housing with the bayonette bulb. Many sources. Jim

Converting from 6 volts to 12 means that the switch could support twice the lamp wattage from original. So long as the amperes of the 12 volts lamps does not exceed that of the original 6 volt lamps, all should be well.

Bus driver has it right. Switches for DC applications are rated in AMPs, not voltage. My 2 8Ns and the M are all using the original type light switches after being converted.
