12 volt conversion

Working on a Farmall B. Would a Delco 10S1 be the best alternator to install? Going to 12 volts. At the moment the tractor doesn't have generator or alternator. Once before I used
the Delco to convert a Farmall H to 12 volts and its worked well.

Look for a Denso type mini alternator. They are a lot smaller than the 10si alternator. Make sure you pay attention to the pulley width on any alternator you order. My brother in-law ordered a 10si from this web site and it came with a narrow pulley on it. He had to order a wider pulley to make it work on his tractor. Get a rough idea of the width of the pulleys on the fan pulley and go from there.

If I recall both my Jubilee and Farmall use a B width belt and new alternators come with A width belts so I have to install the old B width pulley on the new alternator.
Impact gun comes in handy.

(quoted from post at 08:53:49 10/26/22) My BA has a Delco 10si on it with not mounting problemsa

I think the alternator not being tucked in as close as the generator was WOULD be an issue with a mounted cultivator, though.
