(quoted from post at 04:13:07 04/30/16) iwas wondering if you guys could give me some pictures of your 12 volt 8n where the wires go

Don't have pictures of mine but I used a 3 wire alternator. One wire is just a jumper that only goes to the batt terminal on the alternator. Of the other 2 one goes to the ignition switch (small wire) and the heavy wire goes to the amp meter.

If using the one wire just the one wire to the amp meter. The wiring from the meter to the rest of the tractor doesn't have to be touched.

On the 3 wire look at this link. Terminal 2 can go directly to the batt terminal on the alternator.

Then as I said, batt terminal with heavy wire to the amp meter and T1 with either light or diode to the ignition switch. I like the diode but others prefer the light.

Remember real Delco alternators like the ones you will get at Advance or the junkyard are 3 wire. The 10si single-wires are modified aftermarket jobs. When one stops working you will probably have to mailorder a new one and pay more than you would if you just bought the cheapest 10 si available locally. That's why many of us stick with the 3 wire setup.
