135 multi power filter

My abused mf135 3cyl diesel,(S.no.49795,with ground and engine pto), multipower seems stuck in low. MP linkages seem ok, I have replaced transmission oil, (old oil was thick grey cream). Three point linkage works albeit jerkily
1). what filters should i have cleaned or replaced ? and
2). where are they and how is this best done?

Hi,
You should also have a filter mounted above the main fuel pump. This is for the MP but will have no bearing on the 3-pt linkage.
Sounds like partially blocked filters may well be the cause. It depends on the pump arrangement that you have. Drain the oil and remove the LH round side cover. The filter on the hydraulic pump can be accessed carefully through here.
To access the aux pump filter you will have to remove the hydraulic cover. Depending on the pump type arrangement fitted you may be able to remove the rear plate of the aux pump and remove the filter mounted below. If you can't do this you may have to seperate the two pumps and remove the Ferguson pump out through the top. If you can't do this you will have to split the tractor between the rear of the gearbox and centre housing.

To add again to Davids comment....Some early tractors had no external filter or oil cooler lines, so you will have to go inside if they are not present. Just be extre sure that the plunger is lifting enough at the front of the gearbox, even if you have to disconnect the clamp and pull it up with vice-grips.

My 35x was stuck in low multi. The water in the oil had ceased the spool in the valve and the bracket that holds the linkage in the bell housing had come loose. It is only held by one bolt and can swivel if the bolt is not tight. That water in the trans oil does alot of damage. When I get the input shaft back together I am going to test it all by powering wtih a slow turning electric drill before I join it back to the engine.

thank you for your comments. I understand the hydraulic filter access. Regarding the aux pump filter and its influence on the MP; is this above the primary fuel pump on the right hand side of tractor? or the injector pump on the left hand side of tractor? Could you give me more detail about this please. regards pete.
