135 won’t start

135 died while brush hogging pulled in to garage rebuilt carb did complete tune up last winter plugs points cap wires was running good but won’t start. Carb getting gas tried starting fluids still nothing. Enclosing pic of part of carb could this be what is holding it up and what is puporse of it HELP

You need to learn trouble shooting 101.

#1 check that you have a good blue/white spark at the center wire of the distributor cap and at the plug wire that jump a 1/4 inch gap or more.

#2 pull the carb drain plug and make sure you have a good steady flow of gas that will fill a pint jar in less then 3 minute and 22 is even better

#3 when was the last tiem you serviced the air cleaner and dumped the mud and water/ice out of it and fill with fresh oil

#4 pull the air clean tube off and hold your hand over the air intake and try to start it. You should feel a good suction and get gas on your hand. Shoot it may even try to start if you do that.

You have a fixed main jet carb. That solenoid opens the main jet to run and closes (spring loaded) to prevents fuel flow when the key is turned off. A break in the wire causing loss of power to it or the solenoid itself failing will do the same. Check to see that it has power when the key is on.

Have done 1-2-3 all good I was able to get it to start on starting fluid but won’t run found broke wire on main jet where can I order one and what is proper name for part

When that happens I replace the solenoid with a manual adjust main jet and I don't look back

This site doesn't seem to list that part but it does list the main jet assembly that would replace it. Way down on the parts page for fuel parts for around $38

The parts catalog just calls it a solenoid, so main jet solenoid is fine. The parts catalog part number is 520949M92. It shows the type with a screw in the end, does yours have that? If so you can carefully back the screw out, there will be a spring then the needle come out with it. Move the spring to the opposite end of the needle (to the pointed end, away from the screw) and put it back in. That will keep the needle in the run position without power. Some of those solenoids don't have the screw and are sealed units.

As old posted, you can get the parts and convert it to an adjustable jet.

You can access the on line parts book for your tractor at https://apb.agcocorp.com/ so you can get part numbers to use in searching for parts. It shows both the fixed jet (solenoid) type and the adjustable jet type parts.

The solenoid is going to cost you $80 or better. I'd install the adjustable type. Flip the spring (if you can) and see if that gets it going.

Thanks for ur reply. I ordered the adjustable one through Steiner
parts here in mich. yes it does have a screw on the end of it. I will try
what u said with spring tomorrow.

Thank you so much for ur help. I flipped that spring on the fixed main
jet and it started right up. Should I leave it like that or put the manual
adjustable one in when it comes. Does hesitate slightly when
increasing throttle

I'd order the main jet and till you get it run it the way you are now

I picked up a JD with that done to it that has been that way for who knows how long. I will be rebuilding the carb on the JD and plan to put an adjustable jet in when I do the rebuild later this winter. It will run the way it is for a long time, so you don't need to panic about getting the adjustable jet, but it will be best if you do change it out when you can.
