14.9 vs 15.5

I was disqualifed for pulling my 14.9 tires in 5000 farm stock class at Lafayette, Ky this past weekend. Other tractors were not disqualifed with 15.5 and 13.6 tires. NO other place we pull has such a ignorant rule.
Is normal any where else????
And yes i know the tire specs. but this makes no sence to me at all.

Just so everyone knowes. F&R Firestone 151's

13.6x38 = 13.6" wide / 184" circum.
14.9x38 = 14.9" wide / 190" circum.
15.5x38 = 15.5" wide / 184" circum.
16.9x38 = 16.9" wide / 198" circum.

14.9 is taller (taller lug)
15.5 is wider
Where is the advantage????

The advantage is in the surface area... Not much.. but a little.. (I like the taller tire too.)

From the NATPA site:
13.6 x 38 - 168 sq. in.
14.9 x 38 - 200 sq. in.
18.4 x 38 - 300 sq. in.

14.9 x 28 - 170 sq. in.
15.5 x 38 - 189 sq. in.
16.9 x 38 - 252 sq. in.

16.9 x 34 - 229 sq. in.
18.4 x 28 - 250 sq. in

I have some newer Good Year squiggly tread, and I swear they came our of the same mold as a 15.5. Vic

I see the specs. but the 15.5 is still wider.

I don't see how u can let the 15.5 pull in 5000lb class and not the 14.9.

Just saying if your going to have rules you must be able to explain them or atleast write them down where someone can see them befor your hook fee not just disqualify ONLY the 14.9 tire.

Sounds like a hair splitting rule someone made because they got beat by a 14.9 one day. It also sounds like a way to reduce how many people will want to hook. It depends on the track, the cut, and the weight class how a 15.5 will hook up compared to a 14.9. My friend is playing the 14.9 vs. 16.9 debate right now on his WC.

That's why I don't go there anymore. they make the $hit up as they go. If they were using elktons rules it says 5500 and up 14.9/15.5 max tire size in the farm stock.

you end up with same amount of tire on the ground with either one 15.5 is width 14.9 is length however the advantage is faster ground speed with 14.9 still i dont agree with not letting them both run
