140 trans oil

90 wt oil is fine, about 5 quarts if memory is right. The check plug is low on the left side of the transmission near the left brake connecting rod .

If your transmission fluid hasn't been changed in the last 5 years you should drain the transmission and flat belt pulley housing and put new 80W90 in. You drain the transmission through the plug it the bottom right side of the transmission. Drain the belt pulley through the small pipe plug under the pulley housing. Fill through the plug by the shifting lever. 5 quarts I think. You could use heaver oil like 85W125 if the tractor is not used in cold weather.
You should also change the fluid in the final drives. That's the pans at the bottom of each final drive just above each rear tire. Remove the 10 or so bolts that hold them on. Then carefully pull them out and dump them in you drain pan. I said carefully as they are FULL of oil, or at least they should be. Clean the gunk out of the pans and reinstall with NEW gaskets. Fill with the same oil as in the transmission. Fill through the female pipe plugs at the front of the final drives just above the pans.
PS: Don't over tighten the bolts holding the pans on or you will warp the pans and they will leak oil.
2 gallons of fluid should do the job.

That sounds like a plan I was given this tractor because the engine was stuck and no one could free it up. I replaced the pistons , rings and liners, pressure washed out the block and did a valve job on it and it runs like a top. The rod bearings looked good but I replaced them too and the little tractor holds 60 lbs of oil pressure all daylong. I just put a 6 ft finish mower behind it to mow my runway with. I doubt any of the fluids have ever been changed. Do the hydraulics have their own sump or do they use gearbox oil like the small Fords do?

Hydraulic oil is in the casting below the rear of the gas tank. Fill plug is on the top left. Their is a screen inside where the 4 small bolts hold it in. It's below the fill plug. Be careful reinstalling the screen. The small end needs to fit into a hole on the far side of the casting.
I think you need to order a operators manual. Many sources on line or probably from this web site.
