1401D injector repair

I'm replacing the top-most gasket (part number 172100-53200 on the exploded view of the injector) for the #2 injector on my 1401d. I was told when I ordered it to be careful when taking the injector apart because it is spring-loaded. Do I need any special tools or anything to watch out for when doing this? Any special tips on dealing with the spring? Thanks in advance!
 
I got the injector repair completed without incident. But I now have a question regarding the injector diameter because I was able to just pull the whole injector out by hand. See my other post for details. Thanks
