1435 front deck mower

Earlier this week I was mowing and got a phone call. Stopped the mower to hear the conversation and when I started it back up the coolant light came on and the electric fan did not start. I knew these mowers have a problem with the relay so ordered a new one, TCA15274. The new part has beefier terminals and came with a pigtail that needed to be connected to the wiring harness. Started the mower up and all was well until it warmed up and I have the same problem. Once the fan needs to be activated the blades stop if it does not start. Four wires connect to the relay, two heavy red wires of which one runs back to the fan and then a lighter yellow and black wire. Not sure if I have a bad connection and would like some suggestions on how to test. Thanks for any help.

I have had seversl of those. I think the problem is the sending unit. It wires into the computer so the mower deck will stop when it gets hot. I wire the small yellow wire to a keyed hot wire and ground the black one. Fan runs anytime key is on. I have a service manual on them, but is not clear how the circuit works. They are one heck of a mower though. Mine has many hours as a light brush cutter and grass waist high. Just keeps on a running, burning less than a quart of fuel an hour.
