146 Loader spool rebuild procedure

I have a JD 2020 HU with the JD146 loader and the two spool control valve. The local JD dealer got me the o-ring kit for the valve, but no instructions. How do you guys suggest I start this repair, just disconnect the handles and pull the spools out? Is there some way I should bleed off pressure to do this safely and correctly?

Let boom down all the way. With engine off move both handles forward/rearward and pressure will be bleed off. Then remove handles and slide spools out the other end of the body.
