noticed when i took the dynamo off the engine, the bearings rumbled and squeaked when the dynamo was spun-time for new bearings. When i took the dynamo apart,i found 2 of the 3 AC coils had the little reddish spacer/insulators missing and the coils were loose on the iron pole pieces-made new spacers from a chunk of fiberglass PC board, got the loose coils tightened back up and secured.Replaced the bad bearings( 2x 6201zz)with a pair of salvaged NSK 6201vv i had on hand in good shape, the "vv"rubber sheild version more dust resistant than "zz"version. These bearings are readily avalible new. When the starter motor is off it will be checked out too.
