1520 Loader

I have a 1520 and I am looking for a John Deere Loader for it.
I know the model 47 and 48 fit this tractor but remember days on the farm where the 48 and 148 also fit the JD 4020. I have found a few of the 48 models but they seem to be rather big for the 1520.
Does anyone know of the newer models that my fit the 1520 or where a guy can source the models of loaders that will mount on the 1520?
THANKS

I have a 1520 with a 48 loader on it,I took the
loader off a 1020,it is the perfect loader for both
these tractors and the 2020 also in my opinion, the
quick detach system works great also, you can have
the loader off and on in 15-20 minutes.

A JD48 loader is a great heavy duty loader for a 1520 tractor. Had one on a 2020 and liked it. You won't have to worry about your tractor tearing up that loader.

Make sure you have the engine side brackets on your tractor to take the strain off your engine block. With a big loader, a straight front axle works better than a swept-back axle as the front wheels are closer to the bucket.

My 1520 is a 1973 and originally came off the sales lot with a 145 loader - works well and makes a good combo

I got a q520 and I bought a 37 loader but it doesn't have the brackets for the axles where can I get some or anyone noes how I can mack some I can find a picture for them

I agree with Jim.ME model 37 loader mounted to front support & engine flywheel housing not to rear axle housings. Engines side frames were recommended for extra strength.

Not that I disagree but I have seen very few 37 loaders for sale or at auction over the decades and my state was considered a top dairy producer over that same time period. A lot easier to find a 143 or 145 with neither sitting around on every country road.

I was not replying to red35x who started the thread in 2014 and hasn't been seen since 2020. You missed the new posting to this old thread. Sorry, I did not quote Farmalliron (post #7) and you did not notice he revived the thread asking about mounts to the rear axle for a 37 loader he bought/has and now wants to install on a 1520.

Farmalliron,
This is why it is best to always start a new thread of your own, rather than tag onto the end of an old one. people answer the original questions and miss yours.

There's really nothing to disagree about concerning a JD model 37 FEL. I'm probably more familiar with that model FEL than most folks due to being employed at JD dealership when model 37 FEL's were sold new which was '65-'75. Notice areas of photo below where I added extra green color. Model 37 was a lighter duty FEL with only 1 way hyd pressure on boom cylinders for lifting but no down pressure is probably why you haven't seen any of these cheaper built FEL's.

There were plenty of cheapskate farmers around in those days so I am surprised that I have not seen more. Once JD came out with their 20 series utility tractors (1020, 2020) they were a major player in the utility tractor market around here.

I saw a 46 loader with mechanical trip for the bucket just this afternoon at the area parts yard. Looked fair and had tine bucket with sleeve. Considerable pitting on the lift cylinders.
