I'm looking at a 1975 JD 1530.w/loader Has a high/low switch on the dash. 16 speed transmission. I suspect the switch activates a hydraulic clutch pack of sorts to shift the transmission "down".. ,maybe like a TA set up. Does this tractor, with this arrangement have a wet clutch ??? like the old ACs .. Problems??? thanks for the help

according to tractordata dot com: clutch is dry disk. Tranny is partial power shift, 16 forw. and 8 reverse (should be the two shifters between dash and seat (big orange knobs)onthe floor
A hi-low switch on the dash don't know about that, doubt it is a electric tranny gadget. Could it not be simply a(aftermarket?) hi-lo (head)light switch??
just follow the wires and see where they go to... be my best guess.

can you post a pic??
or describe where it is based on this link...

then click on displayed link, got several pics including a dash view.

That 1530 should have a lever on the left side of the dash that looks like a throttle lever, its the high low shifter. Its a compound planetary reduction unit, kinda like what is in the quad range tractors. Its spring applied into low (underdrive) and hydraulicly shifted into high (direct). Its pretty reliable, however, it'll blow the piston seals out and cause a leak and won't shift back into high, low only.
