I have an oil leak on the inside of my front right wheel on my Yanmar 155D that I am trying to fix. In the parts manual item # 22 -69 part # 1A1040-28810 (oil seal) or #21 - 45 part # 194210-13940 (front gear case packing) seem to be the likely problem. I removed the wheel and tire and the axle and cover. I removed the snap ring #22 - 54 that was installed between the two bearings per the Shop Manual instructions on page 7. I think I need to remove the bearings next to get to the oil seal. Do I need a bearing seperator tool to do this? Do I remove one bearing at a time or try to pull several items off of that axle?
My tractor had a gasket like material called fiberhide where the parts manual shows #21-45. I am carefully scraping that off of both surfaces it coupled. Can I make my own gasket for this? If so, what type of gasket material?
I am attaching some pictures.
Again this tractor is teaching me things any mechanic should know. Unfortunately I was an electronics guy so the mechanical stuff is new to me. I appreciate any help you veteran tractor mechanics can share!
Thanks
Frank
