looking at a 1594 with a 4 spd power shift, is this tractor a david brown run off or was it strickly a case made tractor? I looking at it and it looks good, are they good on fuel, and 4 spd power shift good? Any pluses or minuses i should look at. thank you,

hi steve its a david brown design and built in david browns factory in meltham yorkshire they were under case ownership at the time, some of the 6 cyl engines had problems with the engine oil pump gears failing,it was put down to either what the gears were made of or the gears were'nt hardened properly i cant remember which,i think you can get better oil pump gears now,i would'nt have any probs buying a hydrashift db but they can have problems more down to misuse/lack of maintance keeping the oil clean and filters clean.if you need any advice try these guys dbtc.co.uk.hope this helps tom

I had a 1490. very similar. The only real problem I had was when the wife left the PTO hand clutch engaged so that the release bearing wore out. Had to split it to replace it. I also had the flange to one of the steel pipes attached to the front mount hyd. pump crack and leak all the fluid out. had to take the line out while still in the field. I thought that it was very good on fuel.
