1600 air cleaner

I've been going to ask and keep forgetting. The September/October HPOC magazine features the 1600. John Schweibert had written a few paragraphs and talked about improvements made when the increased the bore on the gassers. He said it was easy to identify one of the later ones by the location of the hose from the air cleaner to the carburetor. Anybody know what he's talking about? I looked on agcopartsbooks and there's no serial number split, only one gas air cleaner shown. Every picture that I can find of one, they all look the same to me.

The air cleaner sits higher on the "B" series 1600's. Also the intake manifold is different above the carb flange. Picture with person sitting on the tractor is my 1600 B. Found another on the web.

This should be an "A" model air cleaner.
OK, in that picture I can see the difference. BUT, now I'm confused. Mine is the early A series, still has the 3 1/2 inch bore, but the air cleaner is like the picture of the B series. I'll have to remember to check my serial number I guess. Maybe mine's newer than I thought.

I checked my serial number again. It's 137967. !963 B series started at 137710, so I guess mine's a 63 B series not a 63 A series like I thought it was.
