1650 govenor?

I just did a tune up on my 1650. The tractor runs great, except under a heavy load. When plowing I would have to use 1st gear, and when it got into some heavy soil it would backfire and almost stop running. Any thoghts. If it is the govenor where could I get one? thanks Chris

Don't condemn the governor just yet. The carb on my 1650 has a high speed load adjustment screw (right behind idle mixture screw) and manual states that high speed load is approximately correct when screw is out 3-1/4 turns. I'm assuming you have a steady flow of gas to the carb?

you may want to check the dis. timing as well as the centrifigal advance inside dist. under the points and condensor. there may be a broken spring --or-- the weights may be a little seized and sticky, not allowing the timing to advance properly

How much plow are pulling? Sounds like you have a fuel or timing problem.
