My first Oliver. can some explain the proper usage of the Hydra drive vearsu the direct drive? Also what tyoe of Hydraulic flid should be uused?

The hydra-power drives are just an extra gear splitter, use whatever you need to get the job done. One caution, they do free wheel in low, so if going down hill either ride the brake or keep it in high.

For fluids, if you're talking hydraulic for the hydra-power unit, go with a trans/hydraulic oil, like MF's Perma-tran III or IH's HY-trans fluid. They originally used type "A" transmission fluid, which is now today's Dexron Mercon type tranny fluid. For the tractor's hydraulics, use whatever hydraulic oil you've got, nothing too picky about that.

We run Massey Ferguson and Oliver, so we've just got a drum of MF's Perma-Tran III in the shed and use it for everything to keep it simple. That dealer is much closer anyway.

Thanks, that helps a lot. Can the gears be split while moving, do I need to engage the clutch? Is like a TA on an International?

It's a shift on the fly unit, similar to the TA or massey's multi-power.
