1650 input shaft.

Looking for help please.

Had a heck of a time making my first post due to censorship.
Ive searched here and as many other places as possible. Everything I can turn up suggests replacement is possible without splitting or pulling the motor. I have a manual and its pretty vague. Ive removed all the linkages and floor boards. Welded up some lifting points and am going to pull the cover tomorrow.
The manual says to pound the shaft forward to remove the rear bearing. After that does the shaft come out towards the rear? Not seeing it going out the front at all. Thanks for any help.

Did you pop the snap ring out of the groove? It has been close to 50 years since I had one apart but if I remember right the Shaft goes out the front.

Just got the cover off today with a cherry picker. Took some photos and am currently making a two hour trip to pick up a 1 3/4 socket because the biggest Ive got is 1 1/2.
After I get the nut off the shaft Ill pull the snap ring off the rear bearing. I envy those who have regular tractors doing this job. All the extra stuff for front bucket, arms, and cab make working a real chore. Going to pull the pedal box to get at the front seal. Not really any room to try n reach back in there three feet from the front.

Made some good progress today:
Rest of sheet metal removed.
Tank removed.
Radiator removed.
Hydraulic system drained.
Snap ring removed shouldve left it in oh well very minor.
My Dad ordered parts from maibach.
Shaft pounded forward just far enough to be free of bearings.
Engine mount bolts removed.

Only thing I wouldve done different thus far wouldve been to leave the transmission cover on to clean more before removing.

Just wanted to update this and say I got it all fixed up and running again.

The trans cover ended up being about 40lbs...no cherry picker reqd. Lol didnt realize that until I went to put it back on and was sliding it around on some
Wood blocks.

Lifting the rear of the motor worked fine with a cherry picker to get the old shaft out and new one back in.

Runs great again and Im not driving it ever again. I dont want to work on greasy stuff thats been neglected for 50+ years. Ill leave that for my dad. Unless we pressure wash it of course.

Thanks for the update. That was interesting as I never worked on those.
