my 1650 with original hydra motor , steers very easy but when hard over the steering wheel will keep going , wont stop turning , also if you dont keep turning it which ever way your turning it will release like it lost pressure. does it worse to the left , right turn will make pump grunt hard over but leaks off eventully if you dont keep turning. front cyl. doesnt leak any oil out the lower shaft so id think its good because most the leakage runs down the steering shaft , this one dont have a top return line for leakage return. what do you guys think ? can i repair this hydra motor if needed , if not wheres the best price on the conversion? this original steering motor looks to be the same most combines used , some other equipment also . has anyone subbed a steering motor off other equipment or have a parts supplier for parts for the original which i believe to be a saginaw hydra motor , thanks for any help

Saginaw steering motors are no longer supported by GM or AGCO. Parts to rebuild are not available. Best source is to try to find one that was used on a combine but they are not easily found and may not be any better than the one on your tractor. Our 1550 steering acted up and we ended up replacing the Saginaw with a Char-Lynn. Maibach has the kit. You are looking a $800.00 or more plus a lot of work. New hoses. steering wheel, and steering motor mounting bracket are needed. There has been a lot of discussion on here about the Oliver steering problems with the Saginaw motor. Do a search and you will see.
Good luck with your tractor.
