just for fun, if you a choice of these two tractors for general farm use,
which one would you choose?
I've never been around a 1750, seen a few, but there was several 1650s
in my area back in the day, and they have a good reputation here,

so, I guess 1650 for me! what's your choice?

Gas or diesel? If a diesel, I think I might have to take the 1750. I think they started easier didn't they? Gas, probably the 1650. They had a different carb and were a little more economical weren't they?

An older fellow down the road told me that the 1750s had more engine failures than the 1650s at least when comparing Diesel engines. He had one that sheared the crank when he was running a grinder. Just from watching the sale listings and auctions there seem to be more 1600 and 1650s kicking around than 1750s

Hi:

General farm work? As running a grinder, baling, moving chore wagons, or disking. plowing, cultivating? Can a 1650 handle a 16 foot double disk in relatively heavy soil?

With the more power, I would take the 1750.

I think 1750's got a bad rap because of the 310 diesel, maybe rightfully so, both the 310 and 283 had 2 piece rod bushings, and crap for rod bolts. I have only had 3 310's apart, but all had unusable cranks. Two had cracks behind rear main. Have had 4 283's apart and all 4 had useable or grindable cranks. All were relatively hi hour engines. I am convinced the main problem ( no pun intended) is the block rigidity, and with the extra 3/8 stroke the 310 just doesn't live as long as the 283. That being said a good 1 inch Girdle on the 310 seems to stiffen things up! I guess if both tractors were equal as in hours, condition, both had the 3 speed ( only late 1650's had) I would pick the 1650.

The 1750 was a rebadged 1800 to fill the gap between the 1650 and the 1850. I always wanted a 1650 diesel with a turbo on it.

I love my 1750 diesel. She a little rough around the edges, but like a good woman knows how to to get the job done.
