IN AN EARLIER FORUM POST I SEE THAT CASE MADE 252 1665 COMBINES.. IS THERE ANY DATA ON HOW MANY WERE PRODUCED WITH DIESEL ENGINES?? I HAVE 2 1665'S WITH 318'S AND 1 WITH A PERKINS DIESEL IN IT.. ALSO DID CASE MAKE A BELT PICKUP HEAD FOR THEIR COMBINES.?? I'M GOING TO LOOK AT A 960 THIS WEEKEND WITH A SUPPOSED BELT PICKUP.. WOULD LIKE ONE FOR MY 660 IF THEY MADE ANY... THANKS

No data on how many dsl's were made, but it was less than 10% of production across the board,, the dsl cost so much more then few spent the extra coin to get them, reason the 1665 was so short on production is that they were only made 1969 and 1970, Yes case made a belt pickup unit, in 4 and 5 belt versions, here is my 4 belt unit, last pics show it picking up grass seed in a 36 foot windrow on one of my 960's the 600-960 all use the same header so the one form the 960 would be a direct bolt on with no mods needed, they also offered a variable speed controlled from the operators seat for controlling pickup speed on the go a industry first, one of many case designed

Hello i know this off the topic but i am very interested in buying a J I Case 1660 or 1665 diesel combine do you anyone that might have some for sale
I have only found less than ten CASE combines at all with a dsl engines that were still around in the past 25 + years that I can think of,, only one near me, that was a model 1000 with a 267 dsl I had located two of them 25 years ago in Kansas a 1970 1660 dsl, and a 1`968 1060 dsl, both had a/c but were not factory kits but were very similar in build and looks, I could not get them loaded on a rail car as they had torn out all siding's with load docks out even here ours were gone zI found out,, cranes are spendy to hire,, that ended the deal,, they are both long gone now along with another 1970 1660 with the Chrysler, I had in the deal, only running ones I ever found to buy I used to look and buy them from all over, I know of a 1660/1665 dsl is,, in good hands and not for sale , there was one or two more I cant think of I would say, hard to find 30 years ago, harder today

Thank you so much for getting back to me . i understand about being hard to find i will keep looking i am also interested in other J I Case combines for sale do you know of any off hand . Again thank you for your reply . i grew up on a rice farm in south texas my family ran john deeres and some of the neighbors ran J I Case mostly 960 rice specials and i got the chance to operate one for a week and really enjoyed that . hope to hear back from you

Hate to bust your bubble but JD and IH had variable speed belt/reel from the Ops seat before Case and IH's was by hydraulic motor like modern headers.

what year? I never seen hyd reel drive on 45/55/95 units I sure was not speaking of any ih pile
JD had variable speed reel/pickup belt that you could adjust from the operators station as an option going all the way back to 1960. IH had the same option on the 403/503 going back to 1963/64 at least. And to top that off our MF 510 which we bought in 1964 also had the same option. I've read enough of your posts you think Case invented everything which is far from the truth.
