16hp briggs carb info

I posted a bit ago about a agco allis lawn tractor with a 16hp briggs and stratton twin not starting. I have figured out that it is a carb issue. I have had it apart many times and it has also been ultrasonic cleaned and it is still not passing fuel and it is not the fuel shut off being the issue as I removed the pin to verify so its time for replacement.

Here is the problem the carb that is on it is very rare to be used on the 16hp twin according my local briggs dealer. The two usual carbs used is mukuni and walbro the carb that is on mine is a arsam. This carb has the throttle and choke levers on the side. the govenor lever is below the carb and a rod comes up and attaches to the carb throttle lever. My question is what carb will work on this application or am I stuck with using the same brand of carb thats on it that is impossible to find on ebay or amazon. All the carbs I find have the choke and throttle levers on the top of the carb and I dont see how I will be able to make it work with the govenor.

My other option is engine swapping another 16hp twin that uses one of the more popular carbs mentioned above. Any info is appreciated.

I went thru this with a 303777 1996 model with Aisan, Not Arsan.
Found parts in a junk yard. I would probably look for another junk engine with different carb and grab all the linkages and related parts.

Thanks duner I am familiar with aisan brand carb I had one on my 86 ranger and it was junk aswell lol. I kinda figured I was heading for a engine swap. I know a guy that races lawnmowers and he buys up as many 16hp twins he can find as he rebuilds the parts and sells them to other racing companies. I will probly try to work out a deal for a good running complete twin.

have you removed the welch plugs, your issue of blockage is more likely under one those. most all of the carbs have them. looks like one is under your thumb in pic

The plugs have not been removed so considering I have all but given up on this carb I dont suppose I have anything to lose by removing them. Worse come to worse I'm at the same point if I dont find an issue behind the plugs. Thank you.

bowtieboy77, I have had pretty good luck with carb in slow cooker for a couple of days.
I use Dawn dish soap and maybe a wee bit of vinegar. Cast iron carb I will use more vinegar. Good luck.

I am going to ask because I chased my fuel problem for days before I found it. 2025 Alis Agco, the
fuel pick up in the tank is steel tubing with a 90 deg bend in it,after a new pump(still in the box)
I really looked at it instead of replacing parts. The bend was plugged,I blew it out and it ran fine.
I do not know what model you have, the older ones had the tank on the engine I know.

Well the mower is now running. Turns out it was not a fuel issue at all but something I did. I installed new coils as mice had chewed the wires of the coils and ground harness that was in it. I made a new ground harness. I did not inspect the old harness close enough but the factory harness has diodes built in to it my harness I made did not. So I had spark but due to the lack of diodes I did not have spark at the correct time.
