172 engine

Hello, Can a block heater be installed on the 172 engine? I have a 861d. Thanks,Jon

Yes it can.I did it last year when we rebuilt the engine. They install in place of one of the freeze plugs.Size is 2 1/16".I believe it was made by Philips Temro.

I have also seen magnetic heaters advertised that you stick on the outside of the oil pan. Know nothing other than that.

I used one from a company called KATZ.
You can find them on line. My local auto parts store ordered it for me.
Like Vito said, take out a freeze plug and it goes right in. Heats the best in the block.
