1750 Hydraulic Problem

On my 1750, the 3-point control lever gradually moves to the full up position from any setting and when it reaches that position, it pulls down the engine in the same manner as if trying to lift an immovable load. If I clamp a vise grip in place to stop the lever travel just before full-up, it stops there and the pump does not try to lift further.

Also, recently I have noticed that the curl on the loader bucket will not hold when the tractor is running. With only a one-time exception, the bucket curl always stays in its set position when the tractor is not running. That one time, the curl dropped to the full-down position after the tractor shut off and was parked.

The boom never drops or sags under any conditions.

When I start the tractor on a very cold day and raise the boom, the curl will move also. Once things are warmed up, this specific behavior stops.

My guess is that a splitter or one of those spool valves is stuck, not full closing, or not fully opening. If so any suggestions on where to start looking for a problem will be appreciated. Could this be a faulty adjustment in the relief valve or something like that?

The curl ram is connected to the left side outlets controlled by the inside lever and the boom is connected to the right side outlets and controlled by the outside lever.

I have a shop manual if anyone wants to direct me to the right page or schematic?

Thank you for any asistance provided!

Well the little friction disc in the base of the lever have broken and fell out. You can place some rubber from an inner tube in their place. pry the parts apart with screwdrivers and slip it in with glue on one side. Allso the little turnbucke linkage that connects the lever to the unit needs ajusting. On an old 1750 they are likely stuck. Ajust so the lever is all the way up and you have an inch of free travel on the lift arms.
