1750 Hydraulic pump problems

Four years ago the hydraulic pump on our 1750 broke while driving down the road with an empty manure spreader. Last week it did the same thing pulling the same manure spreader. This is a vane type pump. The guy at the pump repair shop says that something is causing too much pressure on the pump. This tractor gets used to open the tailgate on the manure spreader, dumps the silage wagons, and runs the augers to fill the planter from the fertilizer wagon. No problems at all. What am I missing and what should I be checking to keep this from happening again?

Maybe try to move the three point lever with the motor running. Move it from midway position to all the way up and listen for a pressure, or motor to labor a little.
