got the tank out this afternoon . what a job that is. sure not like working on an ih. got to tear half the tractor apart. i have a diesel leak on the outlet seam. now i am deciding if soldering is the proper thing to do , cause i might be chasing the leak around the whole thing. dont really want to do the jb weld.

They're a pistol with a cab. On the 2-105 White you have to jack up the front of the cab to get them out.

i cheated ! i removed the valve cover as going to set the valves, as no way it was coming out with it on.

I used a product called Seal All on my Super 88 diesel tank that had a small leak. It worked very well. It's been 7 yrs and still no leaks.

Is that cup spot welded to the bottom? Ever silver soldered before? Clean it up good and you'll probably find its got copper brazing between the pieces. Buy one stick of 56% silver solder and some good silver solder paste, and use either a Mapp or acetylene torch (propane might do it). You have to get it almost red hot, then the silver solder will flow really well, right down into the joint.

does the doors hinge in the middle? my 1650 had that cab continnetal cab by oliver was o my cab
i cussed it a few times removing tank for clutches. for years it was my main tractor n wore the clutches out. had an extra clucth n pressure plate throwout bearing n pilot bearing on hand

Do you have a good radiator repair shop or welding shop near you? Take the tank in and have that bowl cut off the bottom of the tank and a plate welded in with two 1/4 pipe bungs. I have done that on two different tanks now. Works very well. Can also have the tank coated on the inside.

That is the water well where you drain the water off the bottom, clean the whole thing very well and see what you have. The last two I bought were like swiss cheese after I got them all cleaned up.

on a 2-105 white and 2-85 white removing the tank involves removing the front tank support which is fastened to the rear of the engine block, then lowering the front of the tank and bring it out. it will be tight but no need to raise the cab . this is with a white cab. a different cab might not work that way, but I have done this several times.

RRed This is a curiosity question, and no help whatsoever: Is there a petcock of some sort to drain the water out of that bowl? With what's in the photo, it looks like the fuel line comes out the bottom. And FWIW, it does look like a cracked seam, and not rust-through. steve

I wouldn't use a torch on that unless you want to see how high it will fly! I put a hose from the exhaust of a small engine in the tank, then I solder!

I was assuming that Red would know enough to purge the tank before he applied any heat. But you know what they say about assume. I'll give the whole safety schpeel next time I suggest heating up a fuel tank. steve
