1755 Will not move

I hope someone can confirm what I'm thinking. I was going down the road traveling in road gear from one field to
another, half way down the road, the engine starting to come under an extreme load, I engaged the clutch, and the rear
tires skidded to a stop. Now, the tractor will not move if in gears 3,5,6 or R2 (lower tier pattern of the shifting
pattern)it will put engine under an extreme load and stall if you let it, however, if I move the gear shift up to the
first tier shifting pattern , gears 1,2,4 or R1 they all work and the tractor functions fine, even the hydro works fine
in all 3 positions. There is no grinding or odd noises going on that I can hear... I think I have some galling going on
in the transmission, where gears are interfering with each other, and locking up. Am I all wet or what do you guys think
my issue is. All fluid levels are full, there seems to be no burning smell in the oil, or discoloration. Any insight
would greatly be appreciated!

From your description, you have a low range input gear seized to input shaft. It has been caused by lack lube, oil is pumped to input shaft through a collector ring. Pump is chain driven from input shaft sprocket to sprocket on pump. Chain has probably failed, check it by loosening trans filter, run in "N" observe for oil.

Are we talking just cracking the filter, starting the engine and see if oil is forced/sprayed out. I assume once I crack this filter, what oil is in the filter will drain away, once engine is started, it should forcefully in a hurried fashion come pouring out, is my thinking correct? If oil comes gushing out while engine is running, then I know the pump is good? If no oil comes out, then my pump is bad, then therein lies my issue?

I suspect this isn't going to be an easy fix. I loosened the filter while running and not one drop of oil came out. I let it run a good 3-4 minutes, still no oil. I even unscrewed the filter completely off, still not one drop. I've got a shop manual from Floyd County Museum in Charles City. It is suppose to be a copy of the original from Oliver. It assumes the mechanic knows a lot. I don't like it, I'm young and haven't been around that long and don't know it all. Is there a better manual out there that I can purchase?...From what it did tell me, it appears this pump, sprocket and chain is internal and the transmission has to be opened up, possibly the motor has to come out or split the tub so the trans guts can come out the engine side..true? What is my next move? If the gear is galled to the input shaft, do I have to remove all components in the transmission to repair this? I sure appreciate all of the help, its guys like you that make the world a better place to live!

B A Star: Question for you: Does this lower gear live on a spline, or is it pressed on. I cant see it being pressed on. We've got the tractor torn down, starting to think this shaft is not coming out...If this gear has welded itself to the shaft, is the shaft even coming out? If not, what then? torch it out? Another thought comes to mind: if this gear lives on a spline, how could it have welded itself to the shaft?...Also, the chain running the internal pump was not broke, so our problem lies within the pump, which I assume can be rebuilt, however, at this point we're concentrating on getting this input shaft out ..any insight you could give us?
