18.4-34 rims

I am going to put new tires on my 806. I thought I might need better rims since at least one is rusted out around the valve stem. A friend told me he thought I could use some clamp on dual rims since they have the double humps and appear to be the same. It appears that I could cut off the excess metal and do this. Have any of you guys done this or seen it done ? The duals appear excellent except for a little surface rust. I have redrilled rims before for new valvestem holes . I may try redrilling but I wanted some of you fellas thoughts on the dual rims. Thanks for any input,Lee

I have had it two ways. One the band just popped out and the other I had to torch them off after the tires and tubes were off. It can also have the wedges for bolts I would stay away from those as the are not as nice for moving the tires in and out on the rim bevels. Once set they are OK but don't plan on putting that hard ware over the cast to the inside as mine would not go.

Bought neighbors dual rims and did it. Brother just ground the welds lightly a little at a time and never messed with the tube or tire. 16.9 38 on loader tractor.

I have two sets of duals here which started out as "double bevel" tractor rims. The older set has hooks welded to the rims, the other has the "T" rail welded all the way around the inside. So they could be made back to regular tractor rims, but it would be some work.

AG WHEEL EXPRESS in Mason City, Iowa has brand new 16x34 bouble bevel rims, powder coat painted silver ready to ship to you for $238 each Monday afternoon. You could probably shop around, burn up all your cell phone minutes, and probably save a few Dollars. I'd call Harry's Farm Tire in Wheatland. 16x34 double bevel probably the second most popular rear rim size behind 16x38.

If you are that worried about the condition of the rims get a set of step up lugs and 38 inch rims and tires to put on it. 38s are more common around here anyway.
