18.4X28 to anything else?

I have an OLD Ford 7500 backhoe that uses the 18.4X28 rear tires that are hard to find (used) and quite expensive.
Does anyone know of a reasonable replacement size for this tire that would still work on this machine?

If it has the 8 bolt hubs most any 8 bolt tractor rim will fit on it. Big thing will be if it will clear the fenders or not if it has them.

ALL tractor tires are hard to find used. Tires are expensive and nobody wants to replace them until they absolutely have to. Unless you are right there with cash in hand, used tires that have any use left in them at all get snapped up within minutes of being put up for sale.

16.9x28 tires will fit the rims you have, giving you some other options to (fruitlessly, unless you're lucky) look for.

Just be aware that your backhoe is extremely heavy, and backhoe tires are rated to carry much more weight than tractor tires. While tractor tires will work they won't hold up long term if you're using the backhoe frequently.

Thank you for the information. I use this machine for DIY projects like the expansion of my firearms business that I am undertaking now, but not for contracting work.

Used tires are not cheap, especially in less common sizes, worst if you need high ply tires. Here is a link to a similar discussion from 2011: https://forums.yesterdaystractors.com/threads/18-4-x-28-tires-white-elephant.788404/

Try a salvage yard. Smaller combines used that tire size back in the 1970s, but those tires are pretty old now. Some MFWD tractors might use that size front tires, finding good used front tires is rare too.
