180 degree thermostat

Just found out the moron who rebuilt my engine two years ago didn't put a thermostat in it. I can find only the 160 degree thermostat on YT and nnalert. Any ideas where to find the 180 and does it look just like the 160 here?

Call Just 8N's they recently carried them. However, I and some others feel that it is not needed, the 160 works fine. The only reason Ford Tractor had a 180 in its parts line up was that it was for the 8NAN distillate burning tractor that required a 180 to be able to properly vaporize the fuel.

As you can see in the pic. here, they are dif. looking!!

I put a S/W temperature gage on my 1949 by drilling the block as shown on Hobo's web page. I also put in a 160 degree thermostat. In the winter at 20-30 degrees I need to block off part of the radiator to get it to go over 160 degrees or I'll get that brown water foam in the oil. In the summer cutting grass in the 80+ degree days the gage goes up to around 190 degrees. Based on these reading a 180 degree thermostat would not make a difference.

the 160 will work fine,I used 140s with alcohol antifreeze.

It all started when the price of a N thermo jumped and then for a short while were not available.. Then someone came up with this Renault Le car thermostat that fits in the top rad hose like a N,,, they knew if they dreamed up a myth that it was better fer ya N folks would jump all over them...

It does not matter what you pay for one it fits a Renault le car... a le car is a certified P.O.S.
