1800a pedal spring gone?

On my 1800 clutch pedal theres no spring. I have no past experiences with Olivers but I know usually theres springs of some kind or another to keep the pedal sprung up to prevent the thrust bearing from riding and wearing too much. Is there supposed to be a spring, or am I stupid? Is this a stupid question? Haha!

Hooks to the lever on the bell housing then up under the fuel tank.
