1841 4 wheel drive

I was talking to an old timer today and he said the town used to own an 1841 that had 4 wheel drive, I had never heard of that before. Was that an
option?

Ford never offered 4WD directly on those tractors, but there were a few different after market companies that added it. The most common was Elenco. Tony Jacobs, a member here, now owns the Elenco brand.

Was he referring to a Balmar skid loader? I got to drive one of those when they were new. Really bouncy.

heres one, mostly together. If you buy it, make sure he has the 90-degree gear box and the driveshaft/torque limiter!

Due to what they were sold for a lot of the 1841s had the Elenco installed after being built.

The Balmars were based on the 4 cylinder 4000. (And at least 1 experimental model based on a 6000)
