Hi guys. I was trying to shift my 1850 into 1000 rpm and switch shafts. I had 2 problems. I Losened the set screw and got the shifter to move in. I then tried to put a 1000 shaft and bearing that a friend gave me out of his 1750. The shaft slid right in and part way on the bearing and then wouldn’t move. I was afraid to tap it in. I seemed too tight. I had a hard time getting it back out. Did olive make a different sized bearing in a 1750? The other question was then I tried to shift it back to 540 to put the original shaft back in. The shift slide back out, I tightened the set screw but had no working pto. I then tried moving the shifter and now it won’t move in or out. I really worked at and finally gave up. Did something get out of wack? Something move inside that now won’t let me shift ? I don’t understand, the shifter seems like it’s in the right place for 540. I really appreciate your help

Did you try to shift it into 1000 with the 540 shaft in? If you did that was a mistake. There is a safety pin built into the unit so you cannot shift it into 1000 with the 540 in. Plus you cannot put the 540 in when the shifter is in the 1000 position. The only problem is the safety pin is not very strong and can be easily bent or broken if you try to force the shaft or shifter. When that happens it jams up the shifter and the only alternative is to remove the complete PTO unit and disassemble it. To be safe never try to shift it with the 540 shaft in. If you do it with the 1000 in or no shaft in you will always be ok.

Thanks guys. Sorry for taking so long to reply. We’re in the middle of harvest. I will try turning it and shifting it. I didn’t force the shifter at all. It seems kinda stuck in no mans land. I’m guessing I’ll be tearing it down this winter. Why would the 1000 shaft bearing not fit. It came out of a 1750. It slid part way in. I just didn’t want to force it.

I can't feature why the bearing wouldn't fit. Those should all be the same all the way up through the White 2-105 and 2-110.
