18V Lithium Battery Fix

Here's yet another video of someone (supposedly ?) fixing a non working 18V Lithium
Battery. Maybe some fine sparky gents here have other or better ways ?? I cant say or
know if it works or not, take or leave it. I will say I ENJOYED IT no more no less.

That was entertaining! What makes him think that it is a PERMANENT FIX? Evidently either the onboard computer [is NOT charging the cells properly (usually not the problem), 0r most likely 4 out of the five cells are not taking the charge.

If he would have taken the time to check each individual cell voltage, he would have found out what I have just stated. Anyhow if you want to talk about batteries? My e-mail is open. If you want, leave A number and time to call, will gladly call you and we can talk batteries.

I've posted how a local YTer showed me how to bring my 20v Li batteries back to full charge.

I've posted it on Tools, Tractor and tales.
I had one battery that would only come up to 19v and another battery that would not take a charge at all.
All my 8 20v batteries now take a full charge, 21v.

Thanks Guido, it looks like that could work but I see how it may only be a one time band aid ???. My experience is more with conventional wet flooded lead acid, AGM and the later LiFePo4 for RV's. Im not well versed on the cordless tool batteries MY BAD

The video probably was a good fix. Just enough juice to get the charger working again. My 12v smart charger does the same thing. Refuses to work when a good battery is too low. A minute on a dumb charger and the smart charger works fine. If my smart charger dies, I'd throw it away. If my 60 year old charger dies, I'd fix it no matter the cost.

I have a manual one too. Simple and easy to fix, 2 10 50 amps.

I know that the video appears to solve the no charging issue, but like I said a permanent fix it is not.

A 12 volt charger hooked up to a possible 20 volt pack? Not my Idea of expert repair work,

I've done it on Nicads for my Paslode but they are a lower voltage and different type.

No not your bad, they are a different animal. I am not impressed by someone that uses a 12 volt battery charger across a potentially 20 volt battery pack.

One cell at the time, load test each one, then you will KNOW if it will be a good pack or not,

It may seem nobody cares if you fiddle with your lithium batteries. After all, insurance companies gladly take your money. Until something happens then everybody cares who's to blame. Whether to deny coverage or name defendant.
