19.2 V Craftsman batteries.

With the disappearance of Sears stores and Lowes and others now selling Craftsman it seems like 19.2 V is being replaced by 20 V. I have a lot of 19.2 tools and my batteries are wearing out. Will there ever be aftermarket sources for 19.2 V batteries or do I need to ship all mine to Guido for refurbishing?

You must remember that Sears never really made anything, they bought it from someone! I have bought batteries online to fit my Ryobi, but the ones I had rebuilt by the battery doctor lasted very well. Unfortunately he is no longer in business. I didn't know Guido rebuilt batteries, I will keep that in mind.

Forgot to mention, I ordered some batteries online and rebuilt one myself, it's not the best. Someone, (probably Guido) said when you do that you probably get old cells.

Hello Sam Womer,

If you like the tools that the pack powers, there are plenty of cells out there. You got an oddball, that pack has 16 1.2 volt cells which makes it 19.2 volts. other 18 volt pack have 15 cells X 1.2 = 18. If you have something to barter I will send you a good pack.

I think I have one left. Probably cost more for postage them buying new cells. I would upgrade to NiMh, and buy the charger for them. You would get double the power of those NiCads. They are the same size, so they will fit in the old pack's case,

Guido.

Cant say about Cord or Cordless tools yet...

But..

Stanley Black & Decker announced in May that it is moving production of Craftsman wrenches, ratchets, sockets and more back to the United States from China.

Hello Sam Womer,

Why not take apart the packs you have to start?. Chances are you can come up with a good pack. Just make SURE they are all of equal capacity. If you do, let me know and I' LL post the procedure,

Guido.

Had an hour to kill trying to get my tablet repaired probably 5-6 months ago. Drove into the mall parking lot and saw a dozen vehicles parked by the door into the tool, automotive, and lawn equipment areas. So I parked and went in. Bet there were 20 guys walking around "Shopping" as opposed to buying. Couple special order tool chests left over and marked down close to 50%. Wanted some 3/4" drive sockets and what few they had were list price, no bargain. Had wanted to get Me and SON SAE and Metric nut driver sets, only a Dollar or two off list price. Found a shelf full of 19.2V batteries, both NICAD and Lithium-Ion. Same deal, list price.
So new battery packs are out there. PORTER-CABLE sold the exact same cordless drills, impacts, saws, etc. and the batteries interchange. I've bought two Craftsman 4 tool contractor's tool sets, each came with 2 batteries and a charger, plus SON bought me an impact and drill with Lithium-ion batteries and charger and I bought 2 replacement Li-ion batteries.

Right now Milwakee is TOP DOG in cordless tools, but I don't use them enough to buy everything new.

You might want to check out Amazon for Ebay for an adapter. I purchased 2 adapters. One so I can use a 20 Dewalt battery on my older 18v tools.
Second adapter allows me to USA a 20v Dewalt battery on an 18v Makita.

Let us know what you find.

Amazon is the place to look for after market Li batteries at a good price.
A chain is only as strong as it's weakest link.

Same with cordless batteries, only as good as the weakest Cell
Don't rebuilt, by new.

check these out on Amazon Powilling 2Pack 5.0Ah 19.2 Volt Lithium Battery Replacement for Craftsman C3 Battery XCP Craftsman 19.2 Volt Battery 130279005 1323903 130211004 11045 315.115410 315.11485

Bet you'll be able to buy Craftsman branded 19.2 batteries for a long time.

And for generics that'll fit, just go to Amazon or Ebay and search for 'Craftsman 19.2 battery'. You'll find tons of 'em
