190 ring gear

just wondering if the tractor has to be split, or can the ring and pinion be replaced thru the top and back end.

no, its gotta be split, and a whole lot more, better get a manual, because it ain't an afternoons work.

got the rear wheels off and platform off. pulled top off rear diff. and removed lift arm housing. the diff only has 2 pinion gears,not been upgraded to 4. there is just a slight amount of lash between them. what is the limit as far as how much is acceptable? will be pressing out axles in the morning. and then getting into trans for removal of main shaft as it has a broken tooth. not bad so far for about 4 hrs work. alone and with only the service manual for reference. alot of learning as i go.

backlash is supposed to be .007 to .012 using a dail indicator.
