Engine idles fine but when revving it will stall out. Restarts fine but does the same thing. recycle line to tank is clear. removed the recylce line from thetop of pump and still does it.Removed the glass check ball nipple and it runs fine, reinstalled the check while it was running and it quit again. The check isnt plugged but is it needed for normal operation. the tractor will not be used hard and not often. Is there another underlying problem that is causing it to stall out? I have a 806 farmall that uses a wire in the return line. I simply replaced the wire with a thinner gauge one and it runs fine now.

I am pretty mechanically inclined and plan on replacing the retaining ring on the pumps. i have the sevice manual and parts manual andI am wondering if the head can be slid out of the housing and the retaining ring be replaced without totally disassembling the pump? these are both real low hour tractors and i dont want to take apart any more than I have to. the book tells how to completely rebuild the pump, not just how to do certain things only. thanks
